Dental Bonding for Chipped and Uneven Teeth

Will Dental Bonding Solve My Problem?

Most of us want our smile to look its best, so a chipped or uneven tooth can make us self-conscious when talking and smiling. Dental bonding offers a simple and conservative way to repair minor tooth defects, with little alteration of the natural tooth. If a tooth suffers minor damage due to an injury or trauma, dental bonding with the Yuba City Dentistry Group can repair the problem.

What Is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding applies a colored resin to fix the shape or texture of a tooth. The resin color is matched to the tooth and very hard to notice after polishing. Dental bonding is great for fixing small chips, odd tooth edges, spaces between teeth, and unevenly shaped teeth. Patients appreciate bonding because the treatment process is easy and improves appearances. Bonding requires minimal preparation and is an affordable option for improving your smile.

The Dental Bonding Process

Dental bonding is surprisingly easy and comfortable. The dentist examines the tooth to make sure bonding is an appropriate treatment. The tooth surface is then prepared (cleaned, slightly roughened, and bonding adhesive applied). Afterwards, resin is applied in layers. When the layers are the appropriate thickness, the dentist then shapes the material to match the contours of the surrounding teeth. Finally, the resin is hardened with a special light, and polished to match the natural luster of the tooth.

Bonding usually requires one office visit. Most patients return to their normal routine right away. Just like your natural teeth, the repaired tooth still needs good care. Avoid biting hard objects, chewing ice, or using your teeth as tools. Actions that chip and stain enamel will chip and stain bonding resin too.

When Bonding is Recommended

In a dental emergency, bonding offers a same-day repair if the tooth structure is not severely compromised. For example, exposed nerve tissue in the center of the tooth requires a more comprehensive solution. On the other hand, a tooth that is chipped and now has a sharp edge is a perfect candidate for dental bonding. When dental bonding is not a satisfactory solution, our Yuba City Dentistry emergency team can apply a dental crown, veneer, inlay, overlay, or filling. As with any dental problem, a thorough exam by a dentist determines the safest and most effective treatment option.

I've been going to Yuba City Dentistry Group the better part of two years and I'll tell you, they are by far the best dentist I've been to. When they do a procedure on you they make sure to explain what they are doing and ask if you are ok , very comforting. Both doctors and assistance are very professional as well as down to earth. And I'll tell you, the girls are pretty nice to look at.(just being honest) I don't care to go anywhere else.

Couldn't feel a thing when getting both my top left wisdom and top left molar removed obviously felt the pressure but pressure is not pain, I wish I would have gone here before the others got pulled Amazing job and dedication to their field and the receptionists were more than accommodating.
